Me Gustas Cuando Callas

Me Gustas Cuando Callas

-Pablo Neruda

I Like You When You Are Quiet
I like you when you are quiet because it is as though you are absent,
and you hear me from far away, and my voice does not touch you.
It looks as though your eyes had flown away
and it looks as if a kiss had sealed your mouth.
Like all things are full of my soul
You emerge from the things, full of my soul.
Dream butterfly, you look like my soul,
and you look like a melancholy word.
I like you when you are quiet and it is as though you are distant.
It is as though you are complaining, butterfly in lullaby.
And you hear me from far away, and my voice does not reach you:
let me fall quiet with your own silence.
Let me also speak to you with your silence
Clear like a lamp, simple like a ring.
You are like the night, quiet and constellated.
Your silence is of a star, so far away and solitary.
I like you when you are quiet because it is as though you are absent.
Distant and painful as if you had died.
A word then, a smile is enough.
And I am happy, happy that it is not true.

-Pablo Neruda, translated

Pablo Neruda is probably my favourite poet if all time. If you enjoy this you have to check out "Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair" and especially "If you forget me" .

Autumn leaves : A seasonal soundtrack

The liftaway - Walk The Moon

I am not particularly interested in anything else by Walk The Moon, but maybe if it was the summertime and I was a sexually confused teen?
I do fully support the above song, however.

Rivers and Roads - The Head and The Heart

I find the peculiar harmony of this trio to be, simply intoxicating.
The entire album is great,  you can listen to more here.

Down in the valley - The Heart and The Head

Lost in my mind -  The Heart and The Head

This cover of "The National - Bloodbuzz" by Julia Stone is pretty great.
Not to be substituted for the original version, but to be taken as a compliment.
You go Julia.

Babel - Mumford and Sons

Obviously this is on here.
The album is great, but did you expect anything less?

Deep River - Bobby Womack

A true "jack of all trades" his new album "Bravest Man in the Universe" is really growing on me.
This is my current favourite of Bobby's, however  the album version is much better. Sadly this is the only one I could find on youtube.
